Debra Folz
Originally from Long Island New York, Debra draws inspiration from the materials, natural systems, and livelihoods of coastal communities as well as early childhood activities of embroidery and handcrafts. Now a Boston based artist & designer, these and other points of inspiration can be found in within the furniture and table top accessories she designs and manufacture.
A background in commercial interior design, paired with a more hands on and introspective studio furniture practice has led Debra to a place in-between art, design, and craft. Her work begins with observing the connections and disconnections of form and function within the world as she encounter it. She sees no boundaries between disciplines and their assigned material identities and am most excited by unexpected material behavior or the unconventional interpretation of everyday objects.
